April 16, 1933 - September 18, 2019

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Erminio, in his 87th year, was the cherished husband of 59 years to the late Luigina (April 6, 2019) and father to Maurisio and his wife Marie, Oscar, and Daniela and her husband Nabeal Meddoui. He was a proud and supportive Nonno to Joshua, Kaitlin, Matthew, Ryan Pivato and Alia Meddoui. He is reunited with his parents Luigi and Regina, brothers Rino, Marcello, Gildo Pivato and sister Maria Venturatto. He will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends in Canada, Italy, and Australia.

Erminio was a quiet and gentle man with a sweet tender soul, whose presence brought his family strength and solitude from troubles. He was a courageous determined man leaving behind his family to emigrate to Canada in 1965 with Luigina and two small boys to make a better life, and in doing so, fulfilling their dreams with the addition of a daughter. People sought out Erminio for his many talents, whether in gardening, Italian traditions, and concrete construction projects; he was always willing and able to share and teach his knowledge. Erminio was a humble man who appreciated quality craftsmanship to create things and found great comfort in life's little treasures. He received great joy in seeing his children and grandchildren mature and achieve their dreams. His family will greatly miss his gentleness, sense of humour and humility. May he rest in peace with his love, Luigina.

Friends are invited to meet with the family at Gilbert McIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 2-5 p.m. A Vigil for Erminio will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John’s Church, 45 Victoria Road North, Guelph, on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Laszlo Amaszka officiating. Private entombment.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Dason, Dr. Spadafora and the Bay Shore nursing staff, to all the medical staff at Grand River Cancer Centre and to the Guelph General Hospital.
