Plevka Eric

Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the age of 84.  Eric was the beloved husband of Aline (nee Laurin) for the past 25 years and step-father to Clayton (Alison) Robertson and Joanne (Mike) Halloran.  Opa, loving grandfather of Angus, Malcolm, Jocelyn, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Samantha and Matty.  Predeceased by eleven older brothers and sisters who lived across the United States and Europe.

Eric emigrated from Germany to Canada when he was 14 years old. Eric was passionate about many things, and turned his love of woodworking into a career teaching special education students in Toronto and Scarborough for many years. He was best known for his prowess in the kitchen (or on the BBQ) where he would spend countless hours preparing gourmet meals for his family and friends. He possessed a great sense of humour with a very dry wit, his kind gentle spirit will be greatly missed by all of us.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Eric’s Life will be held at the Somerset Glen Neighbourhood clubhouse at 25 Somerset Glen on Saturday, December 29th, 2018 from 1pm to 3pm.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the caring and compassionate staff at the Guelph General Hospital.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital (gghfoundation.ca) would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Eric W. Plevka in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 2:30 pm.
