Passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington with all his children and their spouses at his side on Friday, December 28, 2018.  Albert was born September 4, 1928 in Tiverton, Ontario to the lateThomas and Ida (Bonnett) Reid.  Beloved husband of the late Margaret McKay for 27 years, (d. September 1980) and the late Mina (Hutchison) Crandlemire for 22 years (d. July 2004).  Albert is survived by his loving children: Donna Jackson (Doug), Joyce MacDonald (Rodger), Betty Jane Moore (Joe), Carson (Cheri) and step-children Karen O'Connor (Steve), Roger Crandlemire (Anna) and Margaret Crandlemire, 21 cherished grandchildren and 41 dear great-grandchildren.  Brother-in-law to Leona, Barbara, Maxine, Eric Harris (Lorna), Ruth Hutchison, Dorothy Cobb and Mary Hutchison.  Predeceased by his brothers:  Lawrence (in infancy), Melville, Howard, George, Gordon, sister Carrie; in-laws Laura, Marion and Ken Holtz, Gaius and Gladys Hutchison, Roy and Gertrude Hutchison, Frank Cobb, Bart Hutchison, Fern and Roy Drake, Steve Hutchison, Ruthie Hutchison and by step son-in-law Dr Paul O'Connor.  Uncle Albert will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered as a reputable home builder from his days as a partner with Reid and Laing and later as Albert Reid Construction. 

The family will receive friends at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 –9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be at Bingeman’s Conference Centre, 425 Bingemans Centre Drive, Kitchener on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.  with a visitation one hour prior to service time.  Reception to follow service with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park. If desired, memorial contributions to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated.
