ROUMELIOTIS, Vasilios (Billy Boy)

Posted

Bill Roumeliotis (1)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Bill’s passing on November 14th in his 86th year.

He passed peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his life, his children and his grandchildren.

Born in Sparta, Greece he was the essence of a Spartan. He fought his battles with cancer bravely, honourably and with dignity. After immigrating to Canada in 1959 he was involved in numerous successful restaurants including his own, the Sea Baron Restaurant in Guelph. However what he will be remembered for most is being the best father, grandfather (papou) and friend possible. His infectious smile, sense of humour and kindness will be missed by all those who knew him. Other than his family he had a great love for all sports and all food (particularly ice cream, fries and watermelon).

Beloved husband of 58 years to Eleni/Helen (nee Melehes). Adored father to Toula Fleischauer (Stephen), Dino (Tamara) and Mel (Heather). Proud Papou to Charlotte, Emily, Talia, Nikola, Alexandra and Liam. Survived by his brother Niko of Sparta ,Greece and predeceased by his brother Sarando . Loved by his sister and brother in laws and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his friends at the Monday coffee club.

Special thanks to his Bayshore nurses, Susan and Sandra and Dr Cary Shafir and Dr. Paul Karl for their compassion, jokes and warmth.

The family will receive friends at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Sunday, November 18th from 6:00-9:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at St George’s Greek Orthodox Church, 50 Dovercliffe Road, Guelph on Monday November 19th, 2018 at 11:00 am. Burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Reception to follow in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made if you wish, to the MS Society of Canada, the Cancer Society or St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church.

A tree will be planted in memory of Vasilios (Bill) Roumeliotis in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 2:30 pm
