SCARROW, William 'Bill' Arthur Scarrow

Posted

(March 2, 1939-2019) - The family of William “Bill” Arthur Scarrow are heartbroken to announce that he passed away peacefully at Wellington Terrace, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the age of 79.  Bill will be sorely missed by his best friend and wife of almost 59 years, Patricia (nee: Dick), his children Kari Clifford and Geoffrey (Cynthia) Scarrow, and his grandchildren Benjamin Clifford (Angela), Brianna and Gregory Scarrow. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Myrna (Arnott) Armstrong, brother-in-law Bob (Sandy) Dick, sisters-in-law Donna Oliver and Cathy (Morley) Lymburner. Bill is also survived by many nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Annie Scarrow, his in-laws, John and Jean Dick, and his brother & sister-in-law, Gerald and Shirley Scarrow.  Bill began work for Beatty Bros. at a young age, then moved on to Belwood Appliances and GSW. He eventually went to work with CAMCO (Kitchener), and then AMRE (Cambridge) as a salesperson.

Bill was deeply loyal to his family and friends. From a young age, he was very active in hockey and lacrosse within the community and grew to enjoy golf as well.  He was a huge cheerleader for his children and grandchildren - attending as many of their life-events as possible. Bill also enjoyed cheering on many of the local sports teams. Bill and Pat spent many happy years together, raising their family in the community where they were both born and raised.  They travelled Canada and all around the world together and kept active in the community – they had a busy and fulfilling “Golden Years” together.

Many will remember Bill from seeing him on his walks and scooter rides around Fergus. He loved nothing better than a person who returned his wave or had time to stop and chat!

Our family is very thankful for the wonderful care shown to Bill by the staff and volunteers of Wellington Terrace and Dr. John Stickney for their gentle care and kindness which went above and beyond. Also, thanks to the staff at Caressant Care (Fergus) for their care during Bill’s brief stay there.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. S., Fergus. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 beginning at 11:00am at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 325 St. George St. W., Fergus. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Groves Hospital Foundation, Wellington Terrace, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (Fergus) or a charity of your choice.
