Passed away at Village of Riverside Glen on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in her 95th year. She was the beloved wife of Eric Simmons (1987). Proud and loving mother of Loni Nuttall (Peter), Janet Sweet (Julian), Eric Simmons (2006) (Pina), Tracy Bennings (Mark), and Grandmother to Kayla Sweet and Olivia Bennings.
Penny’s great love was her late husband Eric, her children and grandchildren. They were all the centre of her life and the lucky recipients of her love, her pride and her laughter. Her “kiddies” coming home for Sunday dinner in the 1970’s, to her “girls” coming to see her in the last days of her life, was her greatest joy. And Baseball. Baseball. Baseball. The Blue Jays, from their very first game in 1977, gave her a lifelong passion and home pride. She waited and planned for that first crack of the bat each season, and never missed a game till the last one.
Family and friends are invited to attend GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph, (519-824-0031) on Thursday, December 8th for a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. There will be an hour visiting prior to the service.
