Mary Elizabeth Simms (nee Sorbara), with her family by her side, passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on Saturday June 29, 2019 at the age of 68. Beloved wife of 50 years to Pius Simms. Loved mother of Kathy (Geordie) Gristey and Matthew Simms. Cherished grandmother to the late Zachary Gristey, Alexandra (Alex) Gristey, Pius Gristey, Calvin Simms and Willow Simms. Loved daughter of Kay Sorbara and the late Jim Sorbara. She will be sadly missed by her sister Ruth (Steve) Gilmour and brothers Ralph (Sandy) Sorbara, Londo (Diane) Sorbara and the late Larry Sorbara. Always remembered by her brothers-in-law David Simms, Dan (Johnette) Simms and her late sister-in-law, Evelyn Simms. Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to thank the ICU nurses and doctors of Guelph General Hospital for their care and support these last weeks.
Family and friends are invited to meet with the family at the Gilbert McIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, on Wednesday, July 3rd, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. There will be a chapel service at the funeral home on Thursday, July 4th, at 11 a.m. with a reception at the funeral home to follow.
