It is with great sadness that the family of John Smit announces his passing at Hospice Wellington, on Friday, April 13, 2018, at the age of 73 years.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Marlene. Beloved children, Peter (Sherry), Yvonne, Brian (Rachel), and Heather (Jeremy). John will also be missed by his 9 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kandace, Joshua, Keegan, Matt, Quintin, Clayton, Marissa and Jane. Dear brother of Bill (Maria), Tony (Maude), and Henk (Margaret). Predeceased by his parents Bernard and Antonia.
A memorial visitation celebrating John's life will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 2–4 pm.
Memorial contributions to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of John M. Smit in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
