St. Onge Betty MM

It is with a heavy heart that our family informs you that Betty, our beloved wife and mother has passed away on Saturday January 7th at 10:15 pm while at Hospice Wellington in Guelph after a long and courageous 11-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. She gave it her all but could not overcome the ravage of the disease. Betty was born in Harris Township (New Liskeard) Ontario on May 16th, 1945 to the late Frances and John Schoenijahn. Betty will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Aurel of 54 years, daughter Sylvia and her spouse John Mulligan, son Paul and his wife Janet, and grandsons Chad and Lucas. She will also be dearly missed by her surviving siblings Audrey and Roy, as well as many extended family members.

As per Betty’s wishes she will be cremated with no public viewing, but rather a celebration of life will be held in the New Liskeard area with her extended family and friends at a later time. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Kukreti and the clinical staff at Princess Margaret Hospital for being so kind to Betty, and always treating her with compassion and respect. For this our family, will always be grateful.  We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff and teams at Guelph General Hospital and Hospice Wellington for their care and compassion for Betty in her final days. Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (www.themmrf.org)

A tree will be planted in memory of Betty St. Onge in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
