May 2, 1948 - December 7, 2017 — It will not surprise Louise’s friends and family that she did not go gently into that good night. Louise was the proud mother of David Stuart and the much-loved partner and spouse of Karen Wendling. She is survived by them, her sister Claire Kyle, uncle and aunt John and Grace Gagne, and numerous friends across the province. Louise was a long-time activist in feminist, LGBTQ+, anti-poverty, and social justice movements in Oshawa, Sault Ste. Marie, London, Guelph, and Toronto. Sometimes she got paid for her work, though never well. She believed in creating a better and fairer world, one person at a time. But this is the most important thing: Louise loved Karen and Karen loved Louise. A memorial service will be held at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. (reception to follow 6-7 p.m.).
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada or to The Mennonite Central Committee of Canada's refugee sponsorship program

A tree will be planted in memory of Louise M. Stuart in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
