Taylor Norman photo

(September 12, 1928 - June 17, 2019) - Born in Toronto, raised in Collingwood, and living in Guelph since his marriage to Bea in 1950, Norm has had a long and full life.  He attended Collingwood Collegiate where he met his wife of 68 years.  Following high school, he moved to Toronto to attend the Ontario Radio College. Upon graduation he was hired by a local Guelph business where he completed radio and appliance repairs for many Guelph residents. Norm joined Hammond Manufacturing Ltd. in Guelph at the recommendation of a friend.  He worked for more than 35 years in various capacities at Hammonds including in the lab, in the engineering group, and as manager of the newly created electronics division. He particularly enjoyed his work with Canada’s aerospace industry.

Norm was an active member of St. George’s Anglican Church for 50 years and had many lifetime friends, including those in the “camping gang”, the “Sunday Breakfast Club”, the Chi Rho Fellowship group and the Men’s Club of St. George’s.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Norm has been a Mason since the early 1950s.  He was a member of the A.F. & A.M. Guelph Lodge 258, G.R.C., was a member of the Lodge’s 18th Century group, served on two occasions as Master, was Lodge secretary for many years, was District Deputy Grand Master for Wellington District, a member of the Scottish Rite and the York Right, a Shriner, and held a 33rd Degree.  The mentoring, support, and friendship of lodge members was greatly appreciated by Norm through the years.   A masonic service will be held on Sunday, June 23rd at 5:45 p.m. at the Gilchrist Chapel.

Norm was pre-deceased by his wife Helen Beatrice, (nee Neville), his brother, Victor and his parents Ernest John William Taylor and Elsie Victoria, (nee Smith).  He was the well-loved father of John, David, Steven (Elaine) and Carolyn (Chris), grandfather to Kristy, Jonah, Galaxy, Christopher, Paul, Michael and Jason and had 5 great-grandchildren. We are grateful for his time with us and know he is experiencing God’s love with family and friends on the other side.

The family will greet friends at the Gilchrist Chapel of McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home
