Passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on Friday, April 26th at 2:02pm, in his 54th year, with his family and close friends by his side.
Beloved husband to Valerie Thistle (nee Friel).
Loved father to Michelle (Eric) and Danielle (Trevor), both of Guelph.
Son of Joan (Sonny) and Robert of Dartmouth.
Survived by his sister Jo-Anne (Dave) of Guelph, brother Bruce (Katherine) of Milton, brother Bob (Sherry) of Cole Harbour, Brother in Law to Kathleen (Gord) and Kim (Frank), Uncle to Tiffany (Jon), Amanda (Tyson), Kaiya, all of Guelph, and Ashley (Christian) of Shelbourne.
Brian was a loyal employee of Suez Water Technologies (formerly GE & Glegg), in Guelph, for 31 years, where he gained many life-long friends, including his best-friend Darren.
Brian was born in Montreal, Quebec, on January 25th, 1966, and grew up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where he developed his passion for the Montreal Canadiens and, of course, all kinds of seafood. Brian was also a very passionate gardener, and one of the biggest fans of the Rolling Stones.
The family would like to thank Dr. Raso and his team at the Guelph General ICU, the ER staff, and all of the first responders for their help, sympathy, and compassion.
His family will receive friends at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at 11 am.
Memorial contributions to The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of Brian K. Thistle in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 2:30 pm.
