Passed at the Guelph General Hospital on Saturday March 5th, 2016, at the age of 72.  He was  the beloved husband of Patricia and much loved and respected Father of Mervyn (pre-deceased) and Joanne. He is survived by his siblings David and Gail.

Lyn was born and raised in England, he earned his tool and die credentials there. He met and married his wife Patricia and they started a family.  Lyn emigrated from England to Canada, with his wife and two children in 1977. He worked at Linamar Machines and Engel before entering into a partnership and eventually sole ownership of Techtool Ltd.  Owning Techtool enabled him the opportunity to work with his wife Patricia and son, Mervyn, for many years. He also gave back to the community of Guelph by providing high school co-op placements, apprenticeships, and jobs.  Like many Canadian Dad’s, he spent many hours at the ice rink watching his son, Mervyn, play hockey and just as many hours coaching his daughter, Joanne, in ringette. Over the years he was also his daughter’s soccer coach and a supporter of his sons scouting endeavors. Lyn enjoyed family vacations to cottage country and later trips to Florida, and both the East and West coasts of Canada with Patricia. He was an active man and played badminton with Mervyn at the local badminton clubs. Eventually they both traded in their racquets for golf clubs and spent many hours chasing that silly white ball. After Mervyn’s passing in 2005 he recruited Joanne as his new reluctant golf partner and taught her the joy of the game that he had enjoyed with his son. Lyn’s accident in 2012 disabled his body but not his spirit. He quickly mastered the use of his computer through voice recognition software and worked hard at his rehab sessions. The years since his accident were hard on him and his family. His death, while sad, has released him from a body that could not allow him the life that he would want.   Cremation has taken place.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the health care staff and support workers that have helped them over the last 4 years. In memory of Lyn, donations to Spinal Cord Injury Ontario or St. Josephs Health Care Foundation Guelph would be appreciated.

Arrangements entrusted to the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph, (519-824-0031).     We invite you to leave your memories and donations online at: www.gilchristchapel.com
