Odette Titone (Shortreed)

Odette’s extraordinary love of life didn’t come to an end with her death. Odette passed away Friday, May 20, 2022 at the age of 57, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honour her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Odette was a kind and gentle soul. She met her soulmate Piero 41 years ago. When her girls Stefania and Alessandra were born, she left her office position at Shortreed Paper Products to devote her time to raising her girls. Raising her girls, and volunteering at their school inspired her to return to the workforce, this time as an Educational Assistant where she could assist children with special education needs and lavish love and kindness on each of them. Odette’s caring spirit and generous heart could be felt by everyone she encountered. She had a special gift of not only seeing the good in people but bringing out the best in them as well. Family and close friends will fondly remember Odette’s uncanny ability to remember and celebrate everyone’s birthdays, anniversaries, all their special dates. She was an avid volunteer at Saint Vincent de Paul. Her love and devotion to her friends was only surpassed by the love she had for her family. She will be sadly missed by the love of her life Piero and her loving daughters Stefania (Riley) and Alessandra (Kuver). The much-loved daughter of James and Eleanor Shortreed. Odette was 6th in line of the “8 is enough” gang of siblings. Odette will be forever remembered by her siblings Debbie Easton (Don), Barbara (Art), Gregory (Jannie), Bradley (Wendy), Jason predeceased 2020 (Roberta) Annette (Ben) and Nicole (Craig), sister-in-law Antonella (Giando) brother-in-law Tony (Stefania), nieces and nephews Brandon, Cameron, Sydney, Eleonora, Francesco, Filippo, Giulio and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including fur babies Louis and Remy. Predeceased by her in-laws Elena and Ottavio Salvadori del Prato. Our dearest sweet Odette was an example to so many and a shining light to all who knew her. When you think of Odette, celebrate the good memories you have of her. In Odette’s own words, “I have been so blessed in my life. I was blessed with a wonderful husband, two beautiful girls, the endless love and support of my parents and siblings and the dearest of friends. I feel like I have lived 100 years in my 57 years. Life is fragile and short so be kind and make every day count.” Please honour Odette’s memory by doing a kind deed for someone today, tomorrow and every day going forward. The family extends sincere thanks to the palliative team at Princess Margaret’s Cancer Centre, and Dr. Cary Shafir, Dr. Tom Tobin and Hospice Wellington for their caring compassion and kindness. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Princess Margaret’s Cancer Centre or Hospice Wellington. The family will receive visitors at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Sunday, May 29, 2022, from 2–4pm and from 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 409 Paisley Rd., Guelph on Monday, May 30, 2022 at 10 am followed by interment of ashes in Marymount Cemetery. A social gathering will follow at Hart Chapels Fellowship Lounge to share stories, and celebrate her life well lived.
