Passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Alida van Heeswijk. Dear father of Rick van Heeswijk (Catherine) of Princeton, BC and Gail van Heeswijk of Vancouver, BC. Proud grandfather of Sarah van Heeswijk (Travis Hopcott). Dick will be fondly remembered by Alida’s children; Elisabeth Hulshoff (Bernard) of Halifax, NS, Ron Hulshoff (Alejandra) of St. Catharines, ON and Steven Hulshoff (Claudia) and their son Mark of Delft, Netherlands. Predeceased by his first wife Mary Elizabeth (1990). Richard retired from the University of Waterloo as a highly respected Professor Emeritis of Electrical Engineering. He was a member of the P.E.O. and I.E.E.E.
Funeral services will be held at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. No visitation prior to service.
