Van ROON, James "Jim"

Passed away peacefully with his loving wife Mary of 30 years by his side at the Guelph Wellington Hospice. Jim was born in Haarlem, the Netherlands. He was predeceased by his father John and mother Nantje and is survived by his children Peter (Anita), Frankie (Simon), Patricia and Mark (Muriel) as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitations were held at the Gilbert, MacIntyre and Son, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on 18th and 19th of March. Family members also wish to express their deep appreciation to Lawrence Adorable, Mary’s nephew, who came to Canada and aided in Jim’s care.

Jim came to Canada from Holland in 1958, settling in Guelph and after working at different jobs finally settled at the University of Guelph as the manager of the computer department. For several years, he enjoyed coaching soccer at various levels in the Guelph Minor Soccer League as well as University Soccer.

As per Jim’s wishes cremation has taken place with Interment services to be held on July 30th, 2022 in Memory Gardens, Last Supper Garden, Str 81 at RR2 Breslau, ON, N0B 1M0. Jim’s family wishes to express their profound appreciation and thanks to all staff at the Guelph Wellington Hospice and the Guelph Paramed Home Health Care Staff for their exceptional and compassionate care.
