Passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the age of 56. Art leaves behind his high school sweetheart and loving wife Donna; his beloved daughter Jessica and her husband Phil Smit; his sons Blake and Cole, and their partners Stephanie and Liora; his father John; and his cherished grandson Ethan Smit. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Don and Philip, his sisters, Dianne, Elaine, and Karen, his in-laws Angelo, Flora, Ken, Steven, and Leanne, his many nieces and nephews, his co-workers, and his many, many friends. Art is predeceased by his mother Evelyn.

His family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., which will be followed by a reception to commemorate Art’s life at the Cutten Fields, 190 College Ave., East, Guelph from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

Art touched the lives of many with his unconditional love and boundless generosity. He will always be remembered for his great love of life. Art was fond of saying that every day was just “another beautiful day in paradise”. Art has only gone from one paradise to another.

If so desired, donations in Art's memory can be made to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Tegemeza Support Society Inc.
