Posted

Wingrove

R.N., of Guelph, passed peacefully in her room at the Elliott Community on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016,in her 91st year.  Many thanks to the amazing staff at Elliott Retirement Plus for their wonderful and compassionate care.   Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Ben Wingrove, DVM, Mabel leaves behind her sister, Thelma Lumsden of Lombard, ON. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, including many nephews and nieces, including Bill and Maria Wingrove of Toronto, Edward and Dr. Karen Davies, and Paul and Sheila Davies, both of Ottawa.  Also deeply missed by many dear friends, in particular Sharon Leslie, Evelyn Farr and Cathie and Alan McPhedran, and staff and friends at Elliott Retirement Plus.  Mabel was a caring and generous individual who gave her energy, time and money to support important community charities including the IODE, Guelph General Hospital, St. Joseph's Health Centre, and Hospice Wellington.  Mabel lived her final days, as she lived her life; with remarkable individual strength and determination, driven by her faith and love.  She loved friends, children, pets, reading, music, adventure and fun.  It was Mabel’s wish that her ashes be interred at a private ceremony at Rockwood Cemetery and that people remember her in their own way.  In memoriam donations can be made to the charity of your choice.

A tree will be planted in memory of Mabel L. Wingrove in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:30 pm.
