WOZENILEK, Matthew Anthony

October 12, 1951 - April 27, 2016

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our dear father in Guelph on April 27, 2016 at the age of 64.

Loved son of the late Ross & Frances Wozenilek (Sladek). Matthew was a proud and devoted father to Matthew (Ana) of Cincinnati, Joshua of Milton, Thomas (Dana) of Toronto and loving grandfather to Matteo, Benjamin, Lucas, Kayla, and Taylor. He will be fondly remembered by his brother Richard (Marni), sister Diane, many nieces and nephews, his caring personal support workers (including long time workers Jenn, Donna, Rikki), and friend Ruth (Mike).

Matthew was born in Toronto and lived his life in Mississauga, Orangeville, and Guelph. Matthew took great pleasure in long runs with his Irish Setter, Irene, who happily accompanied him on many adventures. He will be remembered for his high school teaching at John F. Ross High School, his strong participation in OSSTF, and his award-winning work as the editor of the 39 & Holding newsletter. Matt was most recently a passionate accessibility advocate throughout the city of Guelph (stopableism.org) where he enjoyed "Opening doors to dignity." He was extremely proud of his Czechoslovakian heritage and loved all foods related to this, particularly perogies. His favorite saying was, "Let those who will be clever."

Cremation has occurred. A small gathering for close friends and family is being held at his home.
