YAP, Theng Hong (Robert)

Passed away suddenly, on Friday, April 21, 2017. Theng Hong (Robert) Yap, in his 74th year, was the beloved husband of Chit Niong (Cecelia) Yap. He was the loving father of Mary Siew Ping Yap (Zinck) and husband Michael, the late Siew Cheung (Florence) Marcoccia and husband David, Siew Kung (Julie) Yau, and her husband Koi Chen (Mike), Chun Hun (Sylvester/Sly) Yap and his wife Cynthia, Siew Fun (Jane) O'Neill and her husband Trevor, and Siew Tien (Jamie) Yap. He is survived by his grandchildren Jared and Kyla, Brendan and Sarah, Mei Fung, Yick Fook, Mei Jian and Yick Siang, Tristen and Tate and Devan. Theng Hong brought his family to Canada in 1974 to better their lives. He worked as a mechanic for many years. Theng loved fishing, camping and hunting. He helped with translation for refugees, as well as working with immigration as a translator in his retirement. His love for martial arts also showed with his movie interests. 

Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. A service for Theng Hong (Robert) will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow.
