Peacefully at the age of 84 at Hospice Wellington on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 with his loving children by his side. Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary (Hartley) of 50 years. Cherished father of Mary Beth MacDonald (Brent), John (Debra) and Thomas (Sandra). Proud and devoted grandpa (“Papa Jack”) to Emily (David) and Gregory MacDonald and Teddy and Spencer Yeo and great grandpa to Mia and Alice Alexander. Survived by his sister Holly Tillou and brother James (Karen) and predeceased by his sisters Catherine Bown and Jean Oehler. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born in Fort Erie, Jack had a long career in personnel and labour relations, including at the Regional Municipality of Niagara and the Carleton School Board. His love of thoroughbred horse racing, the Buffalo Bills and the Toronto Blue Jays was well known to all who knew him. Past Master of Fort Erie Masonic Lodge, a past President of the Ontario Municipal Personnel Association and served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario. Friends and family will be received at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Sunday, April 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held in the chapel on Monday, April 16th at 11:00 am, followed by a reception in the Fellowship Lounge. A private family interment will be held at Fonthill Cemetery.
