Yerex Letitia MM

Passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 in Guelph, Ontario.  Born in Trinidad, the daughter of the late A.C. Goberdhan and Sarah (Sinanan).  Beloved wife of Elton for 56 years.  Cherished mother of Catherine (Jean-Yves Dumaine) and Elizabeth (Paul Van Brug).  Proud grandmother of Victoria and Charlotte Dumaine and James Yerex.  Dear sister of Zaddel (Dr. Philbin Tackoor) and her late siblings Francis, Lincoln, Ingram (Eunice), Carol (Subash) and Dr. Anthony (Margaret).  Greatly missed by her sisters-in-law Alice Yerex and Bertille Goberdhan and fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Dear friend to many she met throughout her life.

Letitia attended Canadian Presbyterian Missionary schools (Naparima Girls’ High School and Naparima Boys’ College) in Trinidad.  She left for Canada to study at United College (now University of Winnipeg) where she obtained her B.A. degree.  She later obtained her B.Ed. degree.  She taught high school in Trinidad (Naparima Girls) and in Canada – Winnipeg, Windsor and finally Guelph C.V.I.   Many a student learned to write a proper essay under her instruction as an English teacher.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mendonca, Dr. Bishop, Dr. Lala, Dr. Shende and the nurses of the I.C.U. at Guelph General Hospital for their wonderful care.

We will miss her elegance, her sense of style, and her beautiful voice.

A celebration of Letitia’s life will be held Saturday, November 17 at 1 pm at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (parlour room) located at 161 Norfolk St., Guelph, Ontario. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 519-822-0051. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
