Passed away peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital on Wednesday, December 29,2021 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of Alan R. Young. Loving mother of Jeannette Poulin (Bruce) of Guelph, Stephen Dignard (Caroll) of Sarnia and Liane Dignard, also of Sarnia. Proud grandmother of Taylor (Sarah Draper) ,Elyse, Jeremy, Michelle (Mark), Megan, Aurora, Megan (Rob), Cody, Garrett and Jerri; great grandmother of Elijah, Jayden and Andrew. Joan will be fondly remembered by the extended Collinson family, and by Alan’s children: Craig Young, Laura Murray and Linda Burnett and their families. Predeceased by her parents Francis Collinson and Hazel Tipling Collinson and by her oldest son Kevin Dignard (2019). Joan (“Nana” to most) will be remembered for her fierce tenacity, propensity to speak her mind with few filters, questionable medical remedies, love of dance and a desire to feed the masses. Joan was an ardent “yard saler”, and some of her “finds” have become family heirlooms. The family, especially the grandchildren, will remember many wonderful summers at the trailer on Canal Lake in the Kawarthas, Joan’s birthplace and the area she loved so dearly. Cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial contributions to Diabetes Canada would be appreciated.
