18-year-old driver charged with impaired

More than 1,300 vehicles stopped during weekend RIDE checks

On Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, Guelph Police conducted R.I.D.E. throughout the city. Approximately 750 vehicles were stopped. Fourteen ASD tests were administered. As a result of those, four-72 hour driver licence suspensions were issued, and tickets were issued for novice driver, and open alcohol.

On Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, Guelph Police conducted R.I.D.E. throughout the city. Approximately 600 cars were stopped. Eleven ASD tests were administered with one-72 hour driver licence suspension, and one over 80. Thomas McFarlane, an 18-year-old Guelph male, was charged with over 80, and novice driver BAC above zero.

McFarlane will appear in court on Jan. 4, 2019.
