19-year-old accused of racing on Highway 6

Police say the vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On July 4, 2020 at approximately 10:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near the Second Line. The officer observed a southbound motor vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

A 19-years-old of Waterloo man has been charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice - Provincial Offences Court on Oct. 7, 2020. The vehicle and driver's licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
