On Jan. 24, 2020 at 12:51a.m., members of the Guelph Police Service were patrolling in the downtown core of the City of Guelph when a motor vehicle was observed driving eastbound in the opposite lane of traffic towards their police cruiser. The vehicle then immediately pulled in a parking spot and a traffic stop was initiated.
Police spoke with the adult male driver and subsequently requested that he provide a breath sample into an approved screening device. The male failed the roadside breath test and was arrested at 12:58 a.m.
A 19-year-old London male has been charged with:
• Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration
• Novice drive - blood alcohol concentration above zero
He will appear in court on Feb. 11, 2020.
