21-year-old charged with second degree murder in court today

On Jan. 15, 2020 at 8:47 p.m., the Guelph Police Service received a report of a disturbance taking place behind the VIA Station located at 79 Carden St. in the City of Guelph where an adult male was being assaulted. The 63-year-old male victim was working as a security guard at the train station and was located on scene with life threatening injuries. He was transported to the Guelph General Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

A 21-year-old Guelph male was arrested at the scene and has been charged with second degree murder. He has been held in custody pending his next court date appearance on Jan. 21, 2020.
