On Dec. 31, 2017 at approximately 10:40 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information regarding a stolen motor vehicle from the Jesuit Centre located at 5420 Highway 6, Township of Guelph Eramosa.

The investigation into the theft of motor vehicle led OPP officers to the Delta Hotel located at 50 Stone Road East, City of Guelph. Officers were able to identify the parties at the hotel believed to be responsible for the theft. Circumstances allowed officers to attend the suspect's hotel room and gain entry.

Upon entry into the room officers immediately identified an adult male known to be wanted on an outstanding warrant. He was arrested.

A female youth was also located in the room nearby with a quantity of suspected crystal meth and a large quantity of cash. She was arrested for possession of meth for the purpose of trafficking.

A search of the room incident to arrest located a large amount of drugs, cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia. A third party then attended the location and she was subsequently arrested.

Thirty-year-old Jeffery Adam Smith of Wellington North has been charged with:

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking

Thirty-four-year-old Ingrid Danielle Ohls of Cambridge has been charged with:

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking

  • Possession of crystal meth for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of xanax for the purpose of trafficking
  • Fail to leave premises when directed

All three accused parties were held for bail.

While the quantities of drugs will not be released due to that information being evidentiary, the approximate value of the seizure of drugs and cash is estimated to be over $250,000.

"The officers involved in this incident did an outstanding job. With all the factors in play here they were able to take apart what was a complex investigation and conclude it in a manner that ensured the safety of themselves and the individuals involved. They took a significant quantity of illegal drugs off the streets using solid police work. They deserve a lot of credit for what they did," OPP Constable Marylou Schwindt.
