32 speeding tickets issued in just 3 hours

One driver accused of traveling 138 km/h in an 80 km/h zone

On April 4, 2019 between the hours of 1:40 and 11 p.m., the Guelph Police Traffic unit conducted speed enforcement at five locations within the city. In total, 53 speeding tickets were issued. The highest volume area was Kortright Road West near the splash pad, which produced 32 of the speeding tickets in just three hours.

In another incident, a traffic officer clocked a motor vehicle travelling 138 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on the Hanlon Expressway north of Laird Road. That driver was charged with speeding and stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act. The driver also received a seven day drivers licence suspension and vehicle impoundment.
