$32K worth of purple fentanyl seized during traffic stop

On Aug. 7, 2020 at approximately 10:55 a.m., members of the Guelph Police Tactics and Rescue Unit conducted a traffic stop on Speedvale Avenue in the City of Guelph. The driver of the motor vehicle failed to provide a drivers licence or identifying documents identifying himself verbally. It was determined the vehicle was a rental that the driver was not permitted to operate. As Police investigated further, they discovered a large quantity of purple fentanyl inside the vehicle. As Police were making this discovery both the driver and passenger abruptly fled on foot.

The driver was captured after a brief foot chase and moments later the passenger was captured one kilometre from the scene.

It was determined the driver had falsely identified themselves.

A search of the passenger incident to arrest revealed the passenger had in his possession nine Percocet (approximate street value $200), $1,176.90 in cash and a government issued document in a name other than his own.

Police seized 128 grams of purple fentanyl (approximate street value $32,000) from the motor vehicle.

A 20-year-old Toronto male was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, obstruct police, and breach of judicial order (2 counts).

A 22-year-old Toronto male was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, and possession of identify documents.

Both were held for a bail hearing.
