71-year-old charged in pellet gun incident

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - At about 3 p.m. on June 1, 2017 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a 9-1-1 call from a motorist on Highway 6, north of Fergus.

It was reported that another driver had pointed and fired a gun at them while they were driving. Shortly thereafter the suspect was located on St. Andrew Street in Fergus and was arrested.

Investigation revealed that a driver shot a pellet gun at the complainants damaging the passenger side of their vehicle. The suspect and victim were not known to each other and no one was injured.

71-year-old, William Coyle Emburgh of Arthur has been charged with pointing a firearm, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, and two counts of assault with a weapon, contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 25, 2017.
