A month after a COVID-19 vaccine mandate came into effect at Guelph Police Service (GPS), the organization reports 100 per cent compliance, though that doesn’t mean everyone is fully vaccinated.

As of Wednesday, more than 95 per cent of members have provided proof of full vaccination, a news release explains, noting that’s expected to hit 96 per cent by Dec. 10.

“Members who are not vaccinated and have not been approved for an exemption must participate on their own time in a COVID-19 education program,” the release notes. “They also must provide proof of a negative test taken within 48 hours of the start of their working block and a second test taken during the working block.”

The proof of vaccination policy came into effect on Nov. 1, with a deadline of Nov. 15.

GPS has about 320 employees, noted spokesperson Scott Tracey.

"All members who are not fully vaccinated are testing in accordance with the provisions of the policy. Guelph Police does not currently have any approved exemptions under the OHRC," Tracey said.
