Already facing vehicle theft charges, Guelph man accused of stealing another

Police say the vehicles in question were taken from the same underground parking garage

On June 2, 2020 at approximately 6:30 a.m., Guelph Police received a report that a 2004 Buick Regal had been stolen from the parking lot a retail property at the corner of Silvercreek Parkway North and Willow Road in the City of Guelph.

While actively searching the area, Guelph Police quickly located the unoccupied vehicle in an underground parking garage on Willow Road metres away from where it had been stolen. With a suspect in mind, Police surveilled the vehicle and didn’t have long to wait before their suspect approached and entered the vehicle. Police moved in and made the arrest.

The 29-year-old Guelph male – whom had been released hours earlier in the day for possession of a stolen vehicle, a vehicle stolen from the same location as this vehicle – was further charge with possession of stolen property under $5,000, occupy stolen motor vehicle, breach probation and fail to comply with undertaking.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
