Area remains closed as death investigation continues on Watson Parkway

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Aug. 4, 2020 at approximately 7:15 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services, responded to reports of a suspicious death after the body of a deceased male was located by a passerby along the roadway in the area of Watson Parkway N. near Wellington Road 124.

The Wellington County OPP Crime Unit commenced a death investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), along with OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), and in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services. A post-mortem to determine a cause of death of the unidentified male is scheduled for Aug. 6, 2020 in Toronto.

Watson Road is currently closed between Speedvale Avenue East and Wellington Road 124 and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

While the investigation is in the preliminary stages, police want to remind members of the public to always be aware of their surroundings and personal safety.
