Arrest of local man leads to recovery of stolen goods

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Nov. 29, 2017, Wellington County OPP Community Street Crime Unit conducted an investigation into a theft from an auto wreckers located in the Township of Guelph-Eramosa.

The investigation led to the arrest of a 25-year-old male from Guelph. Stolen property from several Guelph businesses was located and seized as well as stolen property from break and enters in the City of Guelph and Guelph-Eramosa.

A quantity of meth was also located during the investigation.

Twenty-five-year-old James Ironside of Guelph has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of meth
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 x2
  • Theft under $5,000 - shoplifting
  • Possession of break in instruments
  • Fail to comply with undertaking

He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Jan. 2, 2018 to answer to the charges.
