Arrests made on charges of aggravated assault, uttering a death threat

City police say they responded to 534 calls for service between Friday and Sunday

On Aug. 4, 2017 at approximately 11:30 p.m., a male entered a variety store in the north end of the city. This male was known to a clerk that was working there and had previously been banned from entering the store.

There was a verbal exchange between the clerk and the male and police were called.

As a result of the subsequent investigation, Louis Girard, a 39-year-old Guelph male, was arrested for uttering a death threat.

He has an Aug. 15, 2017 court date.

On Aug. 6, 2017 at 3 a.m., Guelph Police officers were patrolling downtown Guelph and observed an altercation between two males.

As a result of the altercation, a 23-year-old Guelph male sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Guelph General Hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.

Brent Kenney, a 21-year-old Guelph male, was charged with aggravated assault.

He was given a Sept. 19, 2017 court date.
