Bike rider flees police. Multiple charges follow

On Dec. 17 at approximately 1:20 a.m., patrol officers attempted to approach a male riding a bicycle on Woodlawn Road when he jumped a curb, got off the bike and ran from police. There was a short foot pursuit and the man was apprehended in possession of a quantity of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. Further investigation revealed that the bicycle had been previously reported stolen in November.

The 44-year-old Guelph man was charged with possession of stolen property, possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of breach of recognizance, breach of probation and resisting arrest. He was held in custody and will appear in bail court.
