Body recovered. Elora Gorge drowning victim identified

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON - On May 17, 2020, at approximately 4:45 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible drowning at the Elora Gorge of the Grand River Conservation Authority on Wellington Road 18, Elora.

It was reported that a 20-year-old male was swimming and went under the water but failed to resurface. The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (U.S.R.U.) attended the scene and recovered the body of the missing male.

The deceased has been identified as John Daniel Howell, 20-years-old of Amherstburg, Ontario.

Police continue to investigate.
