Brampton man accused of using hand-held device while driving 60 km/h over the speed limit

He was locked on radar doing more than 140 km/h in an 80 km/h zone

On Thursday, June 21, 2018 at approximately 9:00 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. The officer observed a male driving a new model black sedan while using a cell phone and driving at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 60 km/h.

Twenty-nine-year-old Raghav Sandhu of Brampton has been charged with race a motor vehicle and driving while using a hand-held communication device. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Aug. 1, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON - On Wednesday, June 7, 2018 at approximately 4:30 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 12, south of Drayton. The officer observed a male driving a newer model black sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 50 km/h.

Twenty-four-year-old Matthew Robert Neerhof of Chatsworth has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Aug. 1, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

On Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at approximately 5 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. The officer observed a male driving a grey sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 50 km/h.

Twenty-one-year-old Andrew James Cann of Brampton has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Aug. 15, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
