Update

A local man has been taken to a Hamilton trauma centre with serious injuries after being struck by a Guelph Transit bus Wednesday afternoon.

Following is a full release from the Guelph Police Service:

A Guelph male was transported to a Hamilton trauma centre with serious injuries after he was struck Wednesday morning by a Guelph Transit bus.

Just before noon Wednesday, the Guelph Police Service and Guelph Wellington Paramedics were called to Delhi Street just outside Guelph General Hospital. Investigation revealed a 67-year-old Guelph male was struck while on the roadway by a passing Guelph Transit bus.

The injuries were described as a self-contained head injury. The male was transported to a Hamilton hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not already spoken to police are asked to contact the Guelph Police Service Traffic Unit at 519-824-1212, ext. 7514.

Police are asking people to avoid Delhi Street as they investigate a collision between a pedestrian and a bus early Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened around noon in front of Guelph General Hospital.

Police say Delhi Street is closed between Emma Street and Derry Street while they conduct their investigation.
