On Sept. 15, 2017 at 7:20 p.m., four males were observed stealing lumber from a construction site in the Starwood Drive area. The suspects fled on foot prior to police arrival. Police dog, General, was utilized to track the suspects. All four suspects were located by the canine team and arrested.

After being arrested, police located a quantity of marijuana and pharmaceutical pills on the males. The four males were all 15 years of age and had no previous dealings with police. In keeping with Youth Criminal Justice Act guidelines, all the youths were released with a formal Police Caution and turned over to their parents. The drugs were seized and destroyed.

On Sept. 16, a young male who had previously been advised he was not welcome at a Norwich Street establishment was seen on the property by staff at approximately 7:10 p.m. A staff member reminded him that he was not welcome there and directed him to leave. The staff member went back inside and the youth then picked up a rock and threw it through a window at the staff member. The staff member was not hurt.

The 13-year-old Guelph youth was located a short while later in the downtown core and was charged with assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
