Police say two men fled on foot early Tuesday after a south end homeowner caught them attempting to steal his vehicle’s catalytic converter.

Approximately 2 a.m. a resident in the area of Gordon Street and Arkell Road heard something outside. When he went to investigate he saw two males lying under his SUV. The males got up and fled on foot to a vehicle parked nearby.

The catalytic converter had been cut off but was left behind along with a drill equipped with a saw blade.

The incident is under investigation.
