Citizen complaint leads to impaired driving charge

Driver had his vehicle impounded and licence suspended as a result

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Jan. 21, 2020 at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received report of a possible impaired driver operating a white pickup truck on Wellington Road 12 heading to Fergus.

Police located the vehicle and while speaking with the driver formed the opinion that they had alcohol in their system. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Christopher Marlowe, 38 years old of Grand Valley has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Feb. 21, 2020.
