Citizen complaint results in impaired driving charges

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On May 5, 2021 at approximately 12:20 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an impaired driver on Speedvale Avenue West just outside Guelph.

Officer located the vehicle and commenced an investigation.

As a result, William James Andrews, 33 years old of Toronto, has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph at a later date.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
