City of Guelph bylaw officer helps police bust theft suspect

Theft suspected arrested

At approximately 10:20 a.m. on June 20, staff at a Waterloo Avenue business called police about a suspicious male that was seen walking around the building who was not a client.

Before police arrived the male took a laptop computer and left the building. The male was followed by two citizens and a City of Guelph Bylaw officer to Carden Street where he was arrested by police for the theft.

The laptop was recovered and the male was also found in possession banking cards and documents that belonged to other people.

The 21-year-old Guelph male is charged with theft, possession of stolen property, three counts of theft of credit card and two counts of breach of probation.

He was held in custody and will appear in bail court today.
