Civic clocked going 142 km/h in an 80 zone

TOWN OF MINTO - On May 26, 2017 at approximately 11 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County Road 6 near Fourth Line in the Town of Minto. 

The officer observed a female driving a 2014 Honda Civic travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 142 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

18-year-old Sylvanah Ramos has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on July 5, 2017. Her driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH - On May 22, 2017 at approximately 10:30 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Maas Park Drive, Township of Wellington North. 

The officer observed a male driving a 2008 GMC Sierra travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 136 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

23-year-old Stuart Martin of Southgate has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on July 19, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

CITY OF GUELPH - On May 29, 2017 at approximately 8:50 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6 near Laird Road, City of Guelph. 

The officer observed a male driving a 2007 Mazda travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at approximately 134 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

31-year-old Jimmy Sams of Brampton has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on June 21, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
