Cocaine found during traffic stop

On March 24, 2020 at 11:31 p.m., a member of the Guelph Police Service observed a vehicle driving near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Silvercreek Parkway North in the City of Guelph. The vehicle was known to police as being operated by an adult male suspended driver. A traffic stop was then initiated.

At 11:39 p.m., the driver was arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed a black metal container holding 0.83 grams of cocaine.

A 55-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Driving while under suspension
    •    Possession of a controlled substance
    •    Breach probation

He will appear in court on July 7.

During the traffic stop, police located another adult male in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that he was currently wanted on a Jan. 2 warrant for three counts of failure to comply with judicial release order. He was subsequently arrested.

A 31-year-old Stayner male was also additionally charged with a fourth count of failure to comply with judicial release order as he was not to be within the City of Guelph.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on March 25.
