Collision involving stolen vehicle injures man

On Dec. 7, 2019 at approximately 9:35 a.m., Guelph Police received a report of a collision on Imperial Road. Investigation revealed that one vehicle was travelling Northbound on Imperial Road when it suddenly struck a parked vehicle. 

At the time of the collision, one male was leaning into the parked vehicle and once struck, he was ejected out of the vehicle onto the ground. The male was transported to the Guelph General Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Investigation revealed that the responsible vehicle was stolen from the day before.

As a result, the 26-year-old male driver was charged with Theft Over $5000.00, Possession of Stolen Property over $5000.00, Weapons Dangerous, Breach Peace Bond x2, Possess weapon contrary to Prohibition Order, Possession of a controlled substance, Careless driving causing bodily harm, Drive motor vehicle-never licenced, Suspend drive and Driver fail to properly wear seatbelt. The male was held for a bail hearing.

The 28-year-old male passenger was charged with Occupant in a stolen motor vehicle and Possession of a controlled substance. The male passenger was later released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Jan. 14, 2019.
