Collision results in $18,000 damages

Two were taken to hospital with minor injuries. One vehicle was 'demolished' in the collision

On Feb. 9, 2018 at approximately 3:20 a.m., police were called to the intersection of York Road and Victoria Road North for a report of a collision. A 2004 Pontiac, driven by a 44-year-old Guelph male, was travelling northbound on Victoria Road North approaching the intersection of York Road. A loaded tractor trailer, operated by a 57-year-old Moorefield male, was eastbound on York Road. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

As a result of the collision, the 44-year-old driver of the Pontiac and a 33-year-old male passenger were taken to the Guelph General Hospital with minor injuries. The Pontiac was demolished and the tractor trailer received significant damage. Total damage is estimated to be $18,000.

The 44-year-old driver was charged with careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
