Collision results in impaired driving charge

TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH - On Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at approximately 9:40 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police received a report of a single vehicle collision at Wellington Road 34 at Watson Road South in the Township of Puslinch. Initial reports indicated that a dark coloured sedan had collided with a ditch at this location. Initial reports also suggested that the driver may be intoxicated.

Wellington County OPP responded and located the driver. While speaking with him, officers formed the opinion that he was impaired by alcohol. The driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

OPP attended the hospital where the driver provided breath samples.

Troy McCartney, 24-years-old of Puslinch has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation-80 plus. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 14, 2019.
